2FLY PRO-PILOT UK CAA LICENCE AIRLINE PROGRAMME

What is 2FLY Pro-Pilot UK CAA licence airline programme?

The 2FLY Pro-Pilot UK CAA Airline Programme is a structured airline-focused course specifically designed for aspirational students who wish to complete an ab initio full time course of professional pilot training and achieve licences which allow them to fly for G-registered (UK-registered) aircraft globally.

Gaining a  “frozen ATPL” consisting of a UK CAA-issued Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR), and ATPL theoretical knowledge credits effectively means you can target the following airline options for employment:

1. Major UK Domestic and International Airlines

These carriers operate G-registered aircraft, making a UK CAA licence the primary requirement.

  • British Airways (and BA CityFlyer): The UK’s flag carrier relies entirely on UK CAA licensing for its primary fleets.
  • Virgin Atlantic: Operates long-haul routes out of the UK using UK-registered wide bodies.
  • Jet2.com: A massive employer of low-hour modular and integrated UK graduates.
  • TUI Airways UK: The UK branch of the holiday carrier utilises G-registered fleets.

2. Pan-European Airlines with UK Subsidiaries

Several major European low-cost carriers operate separate UK-registered corporate entities specifically to employ UK CAA licence holders post-Brexit:

  • easyJet UK: While easyJet is a European brand, they have a massive easyJet UK subsidiary operating G-registered aircraft, allowing them to hire UK CAA pilots for their UK bases.
  • Ryanair UK: Ryanair operates a specific UK AOC (Air Operator Certificate) enabling UK licence holders to fly out of bases like London Stansted or Manchester on UK-registeredBoeing 737s.
  • Wizz Air UK: Similar to Ryanair and easyJet, Wizz Air retains a UK-registered fleet to access the UK pilot market.

3. Regional, Cargo, and Charter Operators

Smaller or specialized UK operators provide excellent entry points for low-hour pilots holding a UK CPL:

  • Loganair: Scotland’s airline and the UK’s largest regional carrier.
  • Eastern Airways / Aurigny: Regional operators serving UK and nearby islands.
  • DHL Air UK / CargoLogicAir: Major freight and logistics airlines operating UK-registered cargo jets.
  • Executive & Corporate Aviation: Numerous UK business jet operators (e.g., Air Charter Scotland, RVL Aviation) hire UK CPL/IR holders.

4. Middle Eastern & Asian Carriers (Emirates, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific)

These international airlines routinely accept UK CAA licences. However, they do not typically hire low-hour “frozen ATPL” graduates. They generally require thousands of hours of multi-crew jet experience before allowing an applicant to convert to their local Civil Aviation Authority licence upon induction.

With our headquarters in Florida USA, we have an average of around 250 students going through training at any one time. The majority of these are undergoing programmes for FAA commercial licenses but due to the great aviation-friendly weather, we send our Pro-Pilot European students to Florida to learn to fly. They complete all their foundation training within a fantastic multi-cultural atmosphere.  The icing on the Florida cake is the hour-building module, conducted alongside a real airline, our own Buzz Airlines.

For advanced training, Pro-Pilot students train with 2FLY affiliate schools in the UK or Europe who not only have the same customer focused approach to training as we do but who know exactly what the airline recruiters are looking for. They have their hands on the industry’s pulse. It is for this reason that of all Pro-Pilot students completing their final jet training module with our chosen partners, 100% have been offered airline interviews as a result.

Minimum requirements:

  • 18 years of age before starting training
  • Have 5 GCSEs or an equivalent diploma
  • Be fit enough to obtain UK CAA Class 1 medical
  • Be able to read, write and understand English
  • Successfully complete the 2FLY Skills Assessment
